Changes Related to COVID-19 [Coronavirus]

Consistent with Governor Greg Abbot’s Open Meeting changes dated March 16, 2020, effective immediately and until further notice, public meetings will be held in a manner intended to separate, to the maximum practical extent to reduce the chance of COVID19 transmission. However, the governmental bodies must offer alternative methods of communicating with their public officials; and public comment/input shall be limited to written format submitted to the City Secretary. 

CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Public comment/input shall be provided in writing to include your full name, address and phone number submitted via e-mail to magonzales@cityofmathis.com; or by delivery no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. 

PUBLIC FORUM 

Written public comment/input received shall be provided to the Mayor to read during the Public Forum section of the meeting and will be entered into the minutes of the meeting. In accordance with the Open Meetings Act, Council may not discuss or take action on any item that has not been posted on the agenda. Public comment/input received on items not listed may be considered on a future agenda or refer the item to staff for study or conclusion. Verbal comments will not be received. 

AGENDA ITEMS

Written public comments/input received regarding a specific agenda item, shall be addressed by the Mayor and Council prior to voting and placed into the record of the meeting. These written comments/input shall serve as the required public testimony pursuant to Texas Government Code 551.007. Verbal comments will not be received. 

PUBLIC HEARINGS 

Please submit your full name, address, phone number and the public hearing item requesting to speak on via e-mail to magonzales@cityofmathis.com; or by delivery no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting. Download the free GoToMeeting application (gotomeeting.com) to your phone, computer or tablet. The posted agenda will provide the teleconference dial-in access for the meeting. You will sign in with your name as emailed to participate during the public hearing. During the public hearing item the City Secretary will release your call to speak on the item during the discussion. Once the public hearing item discussion has ended; no further verbal comments will be received. For further assistance or questions, please contact Mary A.
